Orangeville EarlyBird Finalists!
The first Tournament of the year saw some pretty stiff competition ahead of the kids, that included some past OMHA winners and elite teams. The kids were playing well going in from their previous exhibition games, but this could prove to be a good test for where they were at.
The first game saw them get off to a bit of a slow start but come back strong to beat Centre Wellington 3-2. The second game was a wild affair against a strong Barrie side that saw the Hawks shooting hit their marks in a 9-4 victory. Saturday would bring even stronger competition and saw Caledon lose 4-0 to Georgina Blaze where you had to give some credit to the Georgina goaltending and defence. Next up was a very difficult task against a Nepean Raider team that was easily handling all competitiors they had faced. The 4-2 loss with some great goaltending by Caledon was not only respectable but gave the kids encouragement for their semi final matchup. Being the closest anyone had gotten to Nepean thru the round robin.
The semi final game saw a strong team game where Caledon prevailed 5-3 against a 3-1 Barrie team.
In the finals the kids were up against the Nepean team again. This time they played them even tougher greatly narrowing the chances gap from the previous game. With the game going down to the wire Caledon just couldn't find the equalizer and fell 3-2 in a valiant effort that will serve them well going into the season.
