Pee Wee AE Hawks win big at Orangeville Early Bird Tournament
Caledon Pee Wee AE kicked off the 2018/19 season with a gold
medal win at the Orangeville Early Bird tournament this weekend.
After playing only one exhibition game as a team the Caledon Hawks had a record three wins and one loss in the round robin. Victories against Orangeville, Erin-Hillsburg and the King Rebellion secured a spot in the semi-final game Sunday morning where they shut out Woolwich Wildcats 3:0.
Although the Round Robin game against Guelph was a disappointing loss to the Gryphons who maintained a strong lead with the game ending in a 4:1 loss, the Hawks could not be kept down. Sunday afternoon in the gold medal game the teams battled back and forth for the lead, the Hawks held strong to take the Gryphons with a 3:2 win overall.
The team has been practicing hard in the pre-season; most of the players are new to the AE level and have been working together on positioning, passing, setting up plays and supporting one another on the ice. Clearly the hard work paid off! The Pee Wee AE team is looking forward to an exciting 2018/19 hockey season.
