Congratulations to the Caledon Hawks Peewee MD team who captured Silver in the 2019 Ange Giajnorio Memorial Winter Thaw tournament held in Niagara Falls over the March Break. This competitive tournament hosted 55 teams with 17 teams in the Peewee division alone.
The tournament saw the team play five games recording only one loss. With a strong start the Hawks posted a 4-0 win over Halton Hills on Monday afternoon. In our second game we faced a strong team from London and the team battled and supported each other posting a 2-2 tie.
Tuesday’s game presented a must win situation for our Hawks to advance to the Semi- Finals on Wednesday morning. The team came out with energy and determination, rallying to a 3-0 win over the Whitby Wildcats.
Wednesday’s Semi-Final game was a tight battle between our Hawks and the Oshawa Hawks which resulted in a 1-0 win which placed us in the Finals Wednesday afternoon facing the undefeated Lawfield Thunder.
The Championship game saw us facing a very tough opponent for the Gold. The team came out of the gate very strong scoring the first goal to make it 1-0 for our Hawks. The team battled hard, played with heart and supported each other in a heartfelt battle eventually claiming the Silver Medal.
Throughout the tournament the team battled, strongly supported each other and created memories as magical as coming home with their Silver Medals.
