A year in the making, the Minor Atom AE Journey...
As we finished our last game on March 5th, 2018 - The boys circled on the ice with their sticks high like the Toronto Maple Leafs after being victorious 4-3 with a redeeming match against the Dundas Blues.  It saddens the viewers, as this season unfortunately comes to the end and these young men while facing such diversity have persevered through it all! Our Record stands at 39(Wins)-13(Loses)-7(Ties) 


As a Coach, I couldn’t be prouder… As one parent of many,  I am happy for the opportunity afforded to our children to be part of something great in this Hockey Nation of ours.

It all began on May 6th, 2017 when the team was picked, we had a jersey ceremony, a signing session and pictures taken of all the boys.  This was the real deal for many as playing Rep was a new experience for most and a first for many families and players.

By the time Mid August rolls around, the boys have completed some sort of power skating session over the summer and are ready to embark on our campaign to represent Caledon.  September 7th our 1st team meeting, to get everyone pumped for our 1st tournament in Markham.  We placed 2nd with a 5-1-0 Record and off to a great start.

By September 29th, we have played our 2nd Tournament of which we finish as Semi-Finalists in Belleville.  And shortly thereafter, on the 19th of October, these champions finished 1st overall with a 6-0-0 Record in their 3rd and final Tournament at Stoney Creek.  
 
At this point our season is well underway, these Hawks finished their 14th Undefeated Game Streak on November 9th.  After only loosing 3 games the whole season they ran it again and had a 12 Game Winning Streak on the 23rd of December.  

On January 8th, the Caledon Hawks Minor Atom AE Team finished 1st overall in their Regular Season with a record of 19 WINS, 3 LOSSES and 6 TIES.   Lets just say that this journey has been exciting up to this point and these players cognizant or not, have the potential to go all the way.
 
While changing gears and with sadden heart, the OMHA Prelims were less than fortunate with a 4-4-0 record and the Hawks moved down to the Tri-County play-downs consolation round.  The path from here was 6 games for each team and the top 2 advances to the Finals.  Our Hawks played with heart and valor and these aspiring NHL players after completing all 6 games finished with a record of 4-2-0.  While proud of our team, this was not enough to advance…. 

As with everything in life, all of our Journeys we endure could be compared to scaling a mountain… with every peak we climb there are eventually valleys and these 15 players (James Agostino, Nathan Kehoe, Dylan Ayoub, Josh Tabakos, Daniel Moro, Myles Cheesman, Carter Hay, William Pankiw, Nicolas Bolognese, Gabriel Ocampo, Noah Phenix, Evan Martin, Nicolas Corsi, Evan Sigler and Bryce Prieur) have faced it all.
 
Our VP of Rep, posted an article on our REP Homepage (Click Here) and I believe it to be most fitting to describe our season.  So with that I would like to finish with said article which is an excerpt from 'Theodore Roosevelt' who in a speech delivered at the Sorbonne, in Paris, France on 23rd of April 1910 said : 
 
"It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”

In closing, we would like to thank you all for following our team, to the local papers for putting our words to ink and paper throughout the season, to our sponsors and their continued support and especially for making these players feel like their journey after 59 Games will continue again onto next season!
