The MD Peewee Hawks won the Gold in the Vaughan Marshall Drewnowsky Memorial Tournament
The Caledon Hawks Peewee MD Team skated in their first tournament of the year as participants in the Marshall Drewnowsky Memorial Tournament held in Vaughan November 16-18. The tournament was a guaranteed three games, hosting 113 teams from tyke to midget. The Caledon Hawks came out strong playing as a team, winning their first three games to earn them a spot in the semi-final on Sunday morning against the Vaughan Rangers Red Team.
The semifinal was a must win game against a very tough opponent for the undefeated Hawks. Down 1-0 with just over 5 minutes left in the game, the boys found a way to come back and win 2-1. They once again came together as a squad, played hard and did not give up until the last whistle to earn the victory!
The energy level was extremely high for the Sunday Evening Championship Game which saw Caledon face off against the also undefeated Kingston CAL Panthers. The boys came out of the gate strong scoring the first goal of the game gaining an early 1-0 lead. The entire team played with heart and continued to battle a strong team for the Gold. It was a hard fought effort from our forwards, D-men and goalie that earned them a shot for glory. Our Hawks put one more behind their goalie, to earn them a 2-0 shutout and were awarded with accolades of champions!
The Hawks played with heart, strongly supported each other and created memories as magical as their 5 straight exciting wins. They successfully won the tournament walking away with the championship trophy and gold medals.
Way to Go Hawks!
Congratulations to all!!
