Caledon Hawks Midget "AA" Silver Stick Champions
Caledon Hawks "AA" Midget hockey club wins Sarnia Silver Stick championship for second consecutive year.

Teams gathered in Sarnia, Ontario from across North America to contest for the 2016 Silver Stick Championships.

Teams from as far as California, Florida, Michigan competed against top Midget "AA" clubs who qualified from Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Ontario all with one thing in mind, to bring home the coveted Silver Stick banner.

The Caledon Hawks Midget "AA" hockey club had a huge task to send these teams home empty handed.

Beginning with an evening game on Friday the 13th of January against Metro Jr. Jets the team seemed prepared to do so with a 6 - 1 victory.

Evening preparations for the following mornings game against the Hershey Bears went amiss with Hawks settling for a 3 - 3 tie Saturday morning at Clearwater Arena.

The balance hung in the evening game.

Facing the Northumberland Nighthawks, the young men proved up to the task with a combination of stellar team play and determination to pull out a crucial 4 - 0 victory launching the Hawks into a Sunday morning semi-final game.

Not to repeat the mistake of the night before, and with the knowledge a tough West Chester Quakers team was waiting, the team made the necessary preparations showing up to PASA arena ready to play their game.

The ensuing match was a close affair with Hawks pulling out a narrow 4 - 2 victory. The last tally into an empty net.

Now the biggest challenge of the weekend. The final.

The Golden State Eagles, the number 1 ranked Midget AA team in the USA, qualified by defeating a very highly regarded Ted Reeve Thunder team by the score of 2 - 1.

The match was hotly contested with both teams providing outstanding action. As a result the game was tied at 1 - 1 at the conclusion of the second period.

After the interval, and a flood, the Hawks came out with grit and determination scoring two quick goals early in the frame which seemed to deflate the Eagles. With five games in less than 48 hours a possible factor the Eagles were unable to mount a comeback and two more late goals from the boys in red and black sealed a second consecutive Silver Stick championship for the players, coaches and parents.

Congratulations.
