Helmets - On-Ice Team Officials, VolunteersThe Executive of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association 28 February, 1999, adopted the following Policy:Effective 01 September, 1999, any Coach, Trainer, Assistant Coach, or Volunteer who is on the ice at Practice must wear a C.S.A.-Approved Helmet.The intent of this policy is to ensure that team officials in the Ontario Minor Hockey Association are active in a safe environment, which includes helmets for all participants on the ice.
Rationale:• Positive Role Modeling for Players.• All On-ice Participants are treated with Equality.• Safety.• Consistency with Risk Management Initiatives.• Consistency with Coach Level Philosophy.As always, please be reminded that any alteration to a CSA approved helmet or facial protector automatically destroys the Certification.Your support and cooperation in embracing this policy, which again demonstrates the leadership of the O.M.H.A. in Risk Management and Safety Initiatives and protecting the safety of all of our participants, is anticipated and appreciated.
