The Caledon Hawks U-18 MD White team attended it's third tournament of the season. They travelled to Oshawa to take part in the OCHL Heritage Classic Tournament. Their first game on Friday saw them battle to a 4-2 victory over the home town Oshawa Hawks.
Saturday the Caledon Hawks faced two (2) different teams from Nepean. They won both of those games finishing the round robin with three (3) out of three (3) wins and in first place. This secured them home ice advantage for the semi final.
The Caledon Hawks faced off once again against the home town Oshawa Hawks. The intensity of both teams increased from their previous tilt and it was a tight battle for some time until Caledon broke it open and took the win 6-2.
This win set up a final game against Ottawa East which finished second overall after the round robin right behind Caledon. It was a hard working, fast and tenacious game which was 0-0 for some time until Caledon went on the power play in the second period after a nasty hit from behind on one of our Hawks. This lifted Caledon squad to elevate their game for their wounded player and they went on to score four (4) goals on the power play in which two (2) were called back. The game ended as a 2-0 shutout victory for the Hawks!
All team members contributed to this tournament win and showed what real team work can accomplish. Every game saw great moments be each player playing their various roles, whether it be scoring, playmaking, penalty killing, shot blocks, or big timely saves.
