U18 MD White Team Wins 2023 Halton Hills Memorial Tournament!!
The Caledon Hawks U-18 MD White came off a long Christmas break to start the 2023 season with a tournament in Halton. Standing first place in their league standings at the break with a 10 and 2 record. The first two games on Friday showed the rust with a tight 2-1 win over Georgina and then an upset loss to Halton White 4-1.
Saturday the Hawks came out with a needed win situation against Ajax to advance to Sunday, and after a hard battle and a controversial called back goal on the Hawks with two minutes left, it finished as a rare 0-0 tie. Now this meant we needed our home town rivals the Caledon Hawks Red to win to help us sneak into the semis.
Well, the Caledon Hawks Red Team helped their hometown rivals and did just that. This set up a huge semi final game on Sunday morning between the two Caledon Hawks U18 MD teams. It was the first time they met this year and a final was at stake from this game along with Caledon bragging rights. It was an exciting game, with all the Caledon fans cheering on the boys! A hard battled game and a fun rivalry. Our Caledon Hawks White came out on top with a 4-1 victory, which ironically eliminated the Red team after they helped us get in. It was really nice to see the friendship between the two sides after the game. Caledon class was truly evident.
The boys were pumped from the big win over their foes Caledon Red and were off to the finals and set to go back up against Ajax. This time there would be no 0-0 tie as Caledon came out flying and were now starting to get back in the swing of things after the long Christmas break and took it to Ajax and won 4-2 to become the tournament champions.
All team members contributed to this tournament win, every game getting better and better, playing their various roles, whether it be scoring, playmaking, penalty killing, shot blocks, big timely saves, each team member was a huge part of this tournament win.
