Fun at the Falls
For Novice A the Doug Robinson Memorial in Lincoln was our first ever Away Tournament. We were faced with the task of having 3 first place teams of their league divisions in our group of 5. Novice A itself was in the midst of a little bit of a funk and we had to start against the local team early Friday morning.

Well they probably played one of their most listless games and lost 2-0 to the Lincoln Blades. The tournament looked lost rather early. However the kids finally turned things around about mid way thru the 2nd period in their second game on Friday. Beating Lindsay Muskies 4-1.

From there the team returned to the hotel in Niagara Falls and saw some great team bonding. Whether it was in the hotel pool, the fun zone, restaurant or just hanging out together in the hotel rooms. Just having fun together was the common theme.

Again we had an early game Saturday and what a difference in the way the kids played. They took on the favoured Ilderton Jets and controlled the game winning 2-0. For the afternoon game Novice A took on its third first place team in two days and again played very well in a 2-2 tie.

As our round robin play was finished early and with a 2-1-1 record we would have to wait to see if we would qualify for the Finals. Unfortunately none of the final three games our opponents would play going into Sunday morning went our way and we would have to settle for a very solid 3rd place finish.

The kids played very hard and showed what a difficult team they can be to play against. We look forward to carrying on the strong play for our 2nd half of the season.

In the skills competition Novice A again showed very well. Finishing second in the team skate, second in the shoot out and again second in the goaltending competition.
