29th Annual Doug Robinson Memorial Tournament
The Caledon Hawks Atom A team claimed the 29th Annual Doug Robinson Memorial Tournament championship after winning 3-1 over the Collingwood Blackhawks in the final game on Sunday, November 17.
The Caledon Hawks were undefeated in the tournament ranking first in their division with 3 wins and 1 tie.

Their true test came against the Mentor Cardinals from Ohio, USA as they were down 3-0 with 5 minutes remaining in the 3rd period.  After scoring 2 goals, they pulled their goalie with just over 1 minute left to play in the game.  Scoring the third to tie the game with only 4.5 seconds left brought fans and spectators to their feet cheering on the Caledon Hawks come back.  The coach of the Mentor Cardinals was quoted saying, "Those Canadian kids never quit!"
The Hawks success was the result of every player putting forward his and her best effort while working together as a team and battling as a single, strong, and cohesive unit.
Throughout the tournament, Hawks' forwards, Andrew Gilchrist, Colton White, Michael Asta, Christian Della Penna, Michael Hifawi, William Goudreau, Daniel Williams, Ethan Amaron and Joey Detoro were relentless as they used their speed to aggressively pursue the puck and effectively shut down their opponents.
The Hawks defence, Jacob Greco, Hannah Saarimaki, Sebastian Palikrousis, Nathan Thomson and George Kiropolis battled hard to shut down their opponents attack and effectively clear the zone in order to move the puck to the Hawks' forward units. Strong goaltending by Edward Stewart and Tyler Kirkland ensured the Hawks’ success by providing key saves during the games that left fans awestruck with amazement. Players and parents appreciate the efforts of coach Craig White, his coaching team Frank Greco and Doug Goudreau, trainer Paul Detoro and team manager Andrew Saaramaki whose emphasis on development, team-building and hockey fundamentals thus far were credited in the tournament’s victory.
The air at the Beamsville Centennial Arena was electric and the stands were filled with family, friends and spectators dawning their Hawks jerseys, signage and apparel in a strong show of support for the Atom A team. Coach Craig acknowledged the Collingwood Blackhawks as “a tough opponent” and praised his own team. “We have an awesome group of kids who never gave up and really played hard. I’m proud of every single one of them,” he said.
